The next time I tried to turn on my PC, that's today, the error occured for the first time. And to add to this, while I was using the PC before this problem occured, the PC was quickly turned off without being shut down in the normal procedure due to a power failure. But it did not cause any problems since I booted up several times after changing the picture in these 2 days and the error did not appear till today. The only major change I've done to the PC was 2 days back when I changed the windows logon image by going to %windir%system32/oobe/info/background/ and replacing the default one with another picture. I did a quick scan with Malwarebytes PRO and it did not find any infections.
I can't seem to think of any malicious programs that I've downloaded lately. Due this problem, I'm unable to use the windows explorer to do anything, I'm running all programs including firefox through task manager. I tried running chkdsk /f /r and on rebooting, chkdsk found the sector to be clean. I did some googling and couldn't find anything to fix the problem. Whenever I turn on my PC, an error message pops up saying Windows Explorer has stopped working. Like another user has posted, I seem to have an error with the windows explorer.
